Tesco has partnered with Pilotlight, taking part in Pilotlight 360 since 2022. Having previously partnered with Tesco Bank as early as 2016, we were delighted to onboard Tesco as a new Partner Business.
Working closely with their leadership training department, we have incorporated Pilotlight 360 into their learning and development offering for senior leaders. Emma Botton, who completed a programme between 2022 and 2023 shortly before being promoted to Group Customer Director, commented on the value of “being reminded about motivational theory and the importance of purpose within work”, which she was able to then take back to her own workplace and implement into her own team.
Emma also noted how “the team really complimented each other’s skillsets, which created the opportunity to learn huge amounts from one another to take back to Tesco from very different sectors”.
Ros Holland, the CEO of the Boaz Trust, the charity Emma worked with, commented that:
“I was a little bit concerned as to whether Pilotlighters that were coming from the business sector, the corporate world, would really understand some of the joys and challenges of working in a small charity. We're operating on such a small scale and with such limited resources, but it was a very positive experience. And the Pilotlighters that we were working with, they really got us straight away. the questions they were asking and the support they gave was always really helpful.”
Tesco has now placed senior leaders from across multiple of their European offices on the Pilotlight 360 programme, offering the opportunity across the entire company to support charities through skills-based volunteering.
