Independent Advocacy North East’s mission is to provide free and confidential advocacy for vulnerable people, in and around North Tyneside, who are not able to speak up for themselves. Its advocacy service is designed to specifically support vulnerable people (defined as those who have disabilities, are asylum seekers/refugees, or are receiving treatment for a mental health issue).
Its clients, like most of us at some time, experience critical, overwhelming issues in their lives such as the death of a carer, accessing suitable housing, making a complaint. However, unlike most of us, they are bereft of the capacity or usual support of families and friends to resolve them. Even though its clients may be able to speak for themselves, they still require support to enable them to achieve their desired outcome. Clients are supported to express their needs, make choices and effect positive changes to their own lives.
